Blogging this week

Just so you know I will be trying to blog a little more than usual in these coming weeks since my mom is without the valornet phone and I won't get to talk to her. I guess I could email her but what the heck... I might as well give all of you a sneak peak at the craziness in our household.

My husband is so sweet. He spent a whole evening reading up about winter blues. After we looked at prices for light boxes and decided we are not sure if we want to invest in them yet, he did decide to go ahead and buy these daylight bulbs that were mentioned in a website. So he has revamped my kitchen, dining room and computer room to see if they make a difference. We shall see. He also is monitoring my soda intake and brought home beans so we can make some for dinner. I guess my diet will also affect how I feel. This week is going to be drab again and I think he is worried. He wants me to go walk outside at dawn but I am not seeing that happen. As for my allergies they are doing okay. I am stuffed up today but it was to be expected. I am on day 3 without any antihistamines and feel ok so I think I am going to make it!

Benjamin has been a little stuffed up lately. He has been acting like some asthma might be coming along but still hasn't needed any albuterol so we are hoping to get over the hump soon. Jorge has the humidifiers going at full force and I think it has helped him. Unfortunately for me the drainage has him a bit loose if you know what I mean.

And before I sign out I decided to post a layout I finished yesterday with some summer pics... I am not loving the layout but am still laughing at the pics. I don't think I ever posted them so here goes...

She's an EEL!

Today Adreana's swim teacher let us know that she was ready for the next level. Starting February she will be an Eel - Beginner II Level. She is sooo excited and so are we! I wasn't sure it was going to happen but this month she really has started swimming a little more and loves to jump in the water. She is also starting to put her face in the water which resulted in her move! To celebrate we got an apple juice slush at Sonic and made her favorite dinner - spaguetti. Now we just have to wait and see how long it takes her to really start swimming. CONGRATS ADREANA!

Katherine and Baby Joshua visit

Katherine and Joshua (they brought their mom also) came to visit us this week. They stayed the night and both Adreana and Benjamin were so very happy. Benjamin was actually very gentle with Joshua. Well gentle for Benjamin. He did scare him a few times trying to bring him toys but he also loved holding him with my help of course. Here are some pictures of them. By the time I was able to get the camera Joshua had had it but Benjamin still thought it was great.

Adreana also loved having a baby around. Before they left she pleaded for a picture with him. After I got done she wanted to see it. When I showed it she decided she needed another one. She wasn't happy with the first. It is a good thing also because the first one was blurry. I was using my little Sony camera so it is pretty slow. The funny thing is when I told Jorge about it, he looked at me and said "I am not surprised". I guess I shouldn't have been either. Here are both pics...

So for those of you that are praying for us here are a few things to pray about: I am having some trouble with the winter blues again. Please pray that I will feel happy and upbeat again. This year I have actually managed to keep the house livable through winter but I feel like it is slowly getting out of hand again. Also please pray for me since starting tomorrow I will be without my antihistamine for 5 days (I have an appointment with an allergist on Thursday)! And pray for Jorge because if my allergies kick in while I am feeling blue... well just pray for Jorge.

Milestones

Benjamin has reached another milestone early last week... BUT not one I am too excited about. I know a lot of kids reach it before he did but to tell you the truth I was not helping or pushing him to do it. See for yourself...

Yes, he can open the doors all by himself in about 10 seconds flat. So the none naps have become quite interesting since he can take himself out of quiet time all by himself. I am seriously thinking about getting one of those child safety knob thingy's for quiet time but we shall see... he has been staying put lately. Today he even actually took a nap! Hooray for mom time!

Window Seat

Who knew I had married such a handy and resourceful guy or that watching all those Trading Spaces episodes would actually do me any good?... But he is and they did. Last week when Jorge went to get the new years tickets, he saw this underneath the bed drawer set at clearance at the store and immediately thought of the window seat we have been wanting to do in Adreana's room. After much discussion and measuring we decided to buy it and make the seat for it so Friday we went and bought the supplies and assembled it "Hildi" style over the weekend. Adreana is loving it. Now to do curtains and maybe some butterflies on the wall... not sure yet... my interior decorator Ada will have to give me her thoughts on that. :)! Here are some pictures of it... remember you can click to see them larger.

On a seperate note we resume all our activities tomorrow. I am definitely looking forward to MDO but this week I have both days pretty busy so definitely looking forward to next week more. Also pray for my allergies. They are bad, I got the name of an allergist today so I am considering going.

Year in Review

Well this year I finally finished a year in review album so I decided to share it with you... Tons to look at and read but hope you enjoy seeing all we were up to this past year. I absolutely loved making them and looking back at all God allowed us to do and what a great year we had. I still haven't edited them so sorry for any sp mistakes... and I know for fact I left Jorge's birthday off one of them so it needs to be edited before printing! :)! Don't forget you can click on them to make them bigger.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

I hope you are enjoying a whole new year! We are.... and we said goodbye to the old one while we had a blast. We went downtown and had dinner at Spaguetti Warehouse, Adreana's favorite restaurant. Then we changed a poopy diaper in the car so we could continue our festivities in the downtown area event. I had to put that in because my son didn't fail in giving us a little present at the worst possible time. Anyway we went to see the magic show and Adreana got it this year. She was oohing and awing the whole time. So cute. Then we met up with Ada and Luis and their crew at the place where Son del Barrio was playing and danced to Merengue, Salsa and Cumbia to say goodbye to 2007 the latin way! Then we left there and came home to get the kids in pjs and grab some games for them and we headed over to Ada and Luis's to play some games, eat some good food and welcome the new year with friends. The kids did great. I had warned everyone that we wouldn't last because I was sure they would get cranky but they proved me wrong when 2am rolled around and they were still playing and having a good time. We decided to call it a day and came home and sort of slept in. Now to get the kids back into a schedule because with the holidays their sleep patterns are all messed up and we had two visitors last night in our bedroom around 3 am... one of which didn't want to go back to sleep... oh well... serves us right!

All bundled up for the cold night! Ready to party.
Dancing to salsa... look at those hips move!
Benjamin a little tired and dancing with mama. He got a second wind shortly after!
