Easter dresses

Our family is in the middle of a dispute over Easter dresses. Jorge wants one that she has in her closet the he picked out last year. Adreana wants one she picked out while Abuelo Leon was here and I want one I found at Target. I lost. Mine is to be returned at Target soon, but I just had to take pictures of her with it. I am pretty sure Jorge will lose too but he can be more convincing than I am, and I actually also like the dress he picked. Jorge and Adreana both hated mine.

When I asked her to put it on for the pictures. She began pouting so we took her pick for pictures also. We still have to take pictures of Jorge's pick but it is soon to come.
You can see more of my photoshoot in my photography blog.
I am still editing more from this shoot. She picked what we would take and lots of her poses. We sure had fun.

Maternity Pictures - Gaby

We had the pleasure of having our good friends come over and allow me to take pictures of their family. I enjoyed their company so much.  You know good friends when you haven't seen them in forever and you start talking like if you had been together yesterday. I can't wait to get to go see them again soon. The kids and I are soo excited about the trip!

This was a little different than my previous pregnancy shoots as we wanted to capture more family moments than just belly shots. So many people tell me they don't want maternity shots because they don't want to bare their bellies and this was a wonderful example of what we can do without those shots. Just beautiful! Thanks Gaby for allowing me the opportunity to do this.

And as usual my favorite shots are at www.mfphotographybymaria.blogspot.com so go take a look!

I have to add that I took my kids to this shoot with me. They had their itouch and dsi to play with and bubbles for some shots that failed (way, way too windy!) and they were amazing. My kids are growing up and I can't seem to stop it. Just a year ago I think it would have been impossible but this year they do so well.

6 year photo shoot?

So Adreana is more like 61/2 but I never took pictures of her so on the prettiest spring day I decided it was time to go out and get some. She was all for it (after an appropriate settlement of her fee :).)

What caught most my attention is how big she is getting. She is quite the lady and as usual in the 1/2 years we are dealing with quite a bit of 6 yr old attitude. It has gotten her in trouble more than once. The other thing I am enjoying about her is how much she remembers and can talk about people that are not around us like my parents and Dave and Nay. She remembers what they say and laughs at things they did together. She is still extremely detail orriented and is starting to talk about some friends more than others. Some of her favorite people are Hayden and Maura which is a surprise this year since before now her favorite people were always boys. She still loves to create and draw and now loves to read. She has finished 3 early readers and I have found her more than on one ocassion reading her piggie and elephant and frog and toad books to herself.

I know that this isn't the most technically perfect picture. I mean my crop was horrible and there is hair all over her face but it is a picture that makes me think of her. Her crazy hair and sweet smile I had to make it a keeper.
After Adreana saw this next picture she asked me who it was of. I told her it was her and she said, I look older in this picture. I agree.

She wanted some pictures with her brother and I decided it was a sweet request and obliged. I am so glad I did because I love this one. Maybe my fave of them I have gotten in a long time!

Benjamin's 4 yr old pictures

So I finally posted our past month. With homeschool and life I haven't gotten a chance but I know that some of you were waiting patiently for pictures of the capes I made for Benjamin's Birthday. Well yesterday I had the brilliant idea of hiring my kids as models. We watched Project runway recently together and so I used that as an example of what models do. They wear what the photographer says and do as she wants, if they want to get payed. So for $5 my beautiful kids posed for me. Adreana did everything as she was supposed to. Benjamin did better than normal (see post below about our school pictures). Anyway here are the results in storyboards. I am learning how to work with actions therefore the storyboards. Don't quite get it yet but working on it...

We added some gems to Adreana's crown. The reason she picked this instead of the butterfly.

So not smiling in all of them but better... don't you think. He doesn't like the B on the other side of his cape. He is trying to take it off in that one picture. I will probably take it off myself after I get a decent picture of it.

And my sweet girl modeling the cape for me. She is a princess and a super star and super girl all in one. I love this little girl. She had to take pics to show brother how it is done and she did a fine job of it. Thanks chiquitina!
So anyway please don't call the authorities on me but I needed to get Benjamin's 4 yr old pictures and I couldn't figure out how to do it! A mom's got to do what a mom's got to do! Hope you enjoyed our BIG kids!

Gaby's Maternity Shoot

Que tal? This past weekend we got to go visit Josue and Gaby and I got to take some pictures of her belly! This has to be my favorite pics to take (after newborns) and it makes it the more sweeter when it is someone I love as much as I do Gaby. She is a beautiful pregnant lady, absolutely glowing. I am so excited and will only get more excited when I get to meet Nicolas. Can't wait... and can't wait to get pictures of him!

Anyway here are some of the pictures I got:

I couldn't decide which one I liked best... B/w or color so I put both.

I have to tell you Josue got Gaby flowers for the shoot. Turns out they were Gerbera Daisies some of my fave flowers so we used some in the pictures. Who knew that he had it in him when he gave me all those nicknames in college!

If you want to see more pictures go here and see some others...

(Josue y Gaby: Espero les gusten tanto como a mi!)
I also have these pictures of my sweet girl... The first one cause she posed for me and even got all dolled up with her necklaces and bracelets and even told me how to do her hair and the second cause when I was setting up for Gaby's shoot I had her sit so I could test the light and later when I saw this picture at home I couldn't help but notice how big she has gotten and I see her every day so for those of you that don't, here is my girl... not so little anymore!

Again just couldn't decide so you get to enjoy them both...

Adreana's 5 yr shoot

Pictures from Adreana's 5 yr old shoot. Beware there are tons of pictures

I was trying to be artsy so the picture above is supposed to be blurry. Can't decide if I love it or hate it but there it is. I have to tell you I can't help post it without thinking about my brother. He is constantly telling me that he does the same things I do but he gets criticized. I know this is one of those that he will be thinking, "If I had done that they would say it was a bad picture but since she did it they will call it art." I keep telling him the difference is I did it on purpose but then again Jorge didn't quite get this one.

I played with the setting in these pictures also. I realized that I have been doing more of that since I downloaded some presets for lightroom. I can't help it.

Cuteness

I took these pictures after the kids got their showers a few days ago. Jorge got them both up on the changing table and they loved being together. That plus two hooded towels adds up to CUTENESS! Hope you enjoy them!

PS. I played with the pictures a lot, just cause. I normally don't.
